A note from Father Jeff
The “Completing the Walk” Capital Campaign for the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart will provide vital and necessary resources to help complete the vision of the late-Archbishop Joseph A. Fiorenza in providing a world class Cathedral in the heart of a great American city. The “Completing the Walk” campaign will allow for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston to maintain a critical and vibrant presence in Downtown Houston while also allowing the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart to minister to parishioners and the wider-community alike in a manner that exemplifies the love of Christ.
The fulfillment of the Completing the Walk campaign will allow for the creation of the Archbishop Joseph A. Fiorenza Plaza, improvements and updates to the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and the Cathedral Centre, and the establishment of an endowment to ensure that the Co-Cathedral meets the needs of this local Church for years to come.
I invite you to join us in completing the walk!
Very Rev. Jeffrey L. Bame
Pastor & Rector, Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart
“It is most fitting to honor Archbishop Fiorenza’s memory and create a beautiful gathering space for the parishioners of Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral. The “Completing the Walk” Campaign will help fulfill Archbishop Fiorenza’s vision and our need for a great Cathedral community in the heart of a great American city here in Houston.”
Daniel Cardinal DiNardo
Archbishop of Galveston-Houston

While an endowment was initially planned for the Co-Cathedral, funds were committed to relief from Hurricane Ike and other immediate issues and thus the endowment to care for and maintain the Co-Cathedral was never realized.
The creation of an endowment fund will ensure that the Co-Cathedral will be able to meet the needs of the larger Houston community for years to come. While the campaign provides for the beginning of an endowment, the Co-Cathedral is estimated to need a substantially larger endowment to be financially secure in the long-term future. All gifts in excess of our $9.8 million goal will be applied to the endowment created in the initial case elements.
